THIS SITE WAS LAST UPDATED 8/18/08 Welcome to the Official site of the OVERLEA CUP YOUTH SOCCER TOURNAMENT. THANK YOU TO ALL THE TEAMS THAT PARTICIPATED IN THE 19TH ANNUAL OVERLEA CUP. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE CHAMPIONS. THE 20TH ANNUAL OVERLEA CUP WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 21, 22 and 23, 2008. Please check this page for last minute updates prior to and during the tournament. All pertinent information, including updates and schedules will be posted on this page. OVERLEA CUP NEWS and UPDATES POSTED 8/18/08: The scoresheets have been completed. POSTED 8/14/08: Players Cards are not required as many teams do not have them yet. But all coaches should carry some form of player ID (birth certificates, etc). POSTED 8/11/08: The Rules and Directios (links at the bottom of this page) have been updated. POSTED 8/7/08: Schedules for the 2008 Overlea Cup have been posted on this page. Please continue to monitor this page prior to the tournament for any last minute updates. POSTED 8/7/08: Rule Clarification: In a 5 team Division, each team will play every other team. The top 2 teams will play for the Championship POSTED 8/7/08: CMSA will be taking ID photos for the Sunday Metro Boys league on Saturday 8/16 from 10AM - 3PM and Sunday 8/17 from 9AM - 2PM. POSTED 8/7/08: Parking at Linover: Due to bridge construction on Lillian Holt we have lost some of our field parking. Please be patient and considerate of others. When possible it would be a good idea to car pool to Linover. The entrance to Linover has changed due to the construction, please be very careful when entering and exiting the park. Baltimore County Police will be on hand to help with traffic following the Championship Ceremonies on Sunday afternoon. Please be patient the Championship games at Fullerton will not start until everyone gets there from Linover. POSTED 8/7/08: Due to Under 8 playing 8v8 it has been decided to use 2 referees and to enforce the offsides rule. Ref fees will be $25 per game. POSTED 8/7/08: Coaches need not call in their scores. Field Marshals will be present at all sites. POSTED 8/7/08: FIELDS- Due to the increased number of short sided age groups we made Fullerton Upper and Overlea Upper, short sided fields. We also added The Fullerton Community Center (FCC) to our list of short sided fields. The Community Center is on Belair Road south of Fullerton Ave. After passing through the traffic light at Taylor Ave. the Community Center is on your left. Please remember, Overlea Middle, is the middle field at Overlea High School. There is no Overlea Middle School. POSTED 8/7/08: Parking at Fullerton field. Please be careful not to park in the private lots in the vicinity of Fullerton Field. In the past we have had cars towed. Please do not jump the curb and park on the sidewalks you may get a ticket. We have staggered the games at Fullerton to create a constant flow of traffic. Hopefully this will help with the parking. POSTED 6/25/08: Ref Fees for the tournament will be $25. per game for all age groups. POSTED 6/22/08: After receiving input from many of the programs we have determined the following format will benefit the vast majority of teams. Under 8 Gold and Silver will play 8 v 8. Under 10 Gold and Silver will play 8 v 8. Under 12 Silver (which of course includes Under 11) will play 8 v 8. Under 12 Gold will play 11 v 11. This will format will be for Boys and Girls teams POSTED 6/16/08: After we receive some input from our participating coaches we will decide and post the number of players allowed in U8 - U12. POSTED 6/13/08: The Overlea Cup page is in the process of being updated with information and Entry forms for the 2008 Overlea Cup. We hope to have all the information and forms updated very soon. POSTED 6/13/08: Boys and Girls U12 Gold/Silver will play 8 v 8. We are in the process of determining the number of players for U8 and U10. . GENERAL INFORMATION Please remember this tournament is for recreation and CYO travel teams only. Your roster should be limited to players who will be on your team in the fall travel leagues. We depend upon the integrity and honesty of the coaches and programs they represent. Boys Divisions of play are as follows: U8, U10 Gold, U10 Silver, U12 Gold, U12 Silver, U14 Gold, U14 Silver & U16. If there is enough interest at the U16 level we will field a silver and gold division. If there is not enough interest there will only be a Gold division. Boys U8, U10 and Girls U8, U10 (Gold and Silver) will play 8 v 8. Boys and Girls U12 Silver will play 8 v 8. All other age groups, including Under 12 Gold, will play 11 v 11. Rain out dates are August 29, 30 and 31, 2008. This tournament and it's rain dates supercede any other tournament. Due to pre-tournament costs there will be no refunds after a team is accepted. THE OVERLEA CUP TROPHY The Overlea Cup is a perpetual trophy. Champions keep the trophy for one year. After which time it is returned and a plaque bearing their name will be placed on the trophy along with all the preceding champions. Each player on the champion and 2nd place teams receive individual trophies. One of the unique aspects of the Overlea Cup is the ceremonies that kick-off the Championship games. 2008 REGISTRATION INFORMATION Teams returning from last year will be given first consideration, provided they return their entry forms by July 23, 2008. Any remaining berths, not filled by July 23 will be filled according to the date applications are received. Please Mail Early! Entry fee $ 260.00 before July 23, 2008 and $ 285.00 after July 23. The entry fee for all Under 8 teams is $ 100 . Entry fee does not include referee fees. Ref fees will be posted on this site. For additional information and ENTRY FORMS for the 2008 Overlea Cup click the link below. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY A player's age as of 8/1/08 shall be used to determine player eligibility. Coaches should carry some form of Player ID (birth certificate, ID Card, etc.). Players may not play for more than one team in any one-age bracket. Any player playing for a "Gold" team may not play for a "Silver" team in the same age bracket. Any team using ineligible players will forfeit any game in which that player participated. Completed rosters must be turned in prior to your first game at the registration tent at Linover Park. Do not send roster with tournament application. To obtain a Roster click the link below. Please note the information concerning the Ceremonies that Kick Off the Championship Games. We will attempt to update the scoresheets every couple of hours during the tournament. Sunday scores may not get updated until Monday 8/18. The Championship Games Scoresheet is at the end of the "Girls Scoresheets". The "official" scoresheets are posted at Linover Park. Fullerton Community Center (FCC) - 7209 Belair Road, just south of Taylor Ave. ELMWOOD ELEM. - 531 Dale Ave. - 21206 FULLERTON FIELDS. - 4304 Fullerton Ave. - 21236 LINOVER PARK - Address is Terrace Drive but the parking lot access is via Lillian Holt Drive OVERLEA HIGH SCHOOL - 5401 Kenwood Ave. - 21206 HONEYGO REGIONAL PARK - 9033 Honeygo Blvd. - 21128 The only access to all parking lots at Honeygo Park is via Honeygo Blvd. Honeygo 1 is the lit field, Honeygo 2 is the lower field. Inclement Weather Policy All games will be played as long as the field conditions are safe. In the event of lightning all games will stop immediately. Players and fans should wait in their cars. After the storm has passed, play will resume. Baltimore County policy requires that play cannot resume for one half hour after the last bolt of lightining or clap of thunder.
